Test Plan Traceability Matrix Gadget

The Test Plan Traceability Matrix Gadget provides a requirements traceability view of your Test Cases from a Test Plan perspective, helping you track coverage and execution status.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have access to edit your Jira Dashboard.

  • Make sure Test Plans and Test Cases are already created in your Jira Space.



Steps to add the Test Plan Traceability Matrix Gadget

  1. Open your Jira Dashboard.

  2. Click Edit on the dashboard.

  3. In Add a Gadget, search for Test Plan Traceability Matrix.

  4. Click Add to include the gadget on your dashboard.

  5. Click Configure.

  6. Select the Space. You can select multiple Jira spaces if your Test Plans are across different spaces.

  7. Identify and select the Test Plan(s) for which you want to generate the Traceability Matrix.

  8. Click Save.



What Information the Gadget Shows

The Test Plan Traceability Matrix Gadget displays the relationship between Test Plans, Test Cases, and linked Work Items/Bugs.

It shows:

  • Test Plan – The list of Test Plans included in the report.

  • Test Cases – Test Cases linked to each Test Plan along with their execution status (such as To Do, In Progress, Failed, Untested).

  • Total Test Cases – The number of Test Cases associated with each Test Plan.

  • Work Items/Bugs – The number of related work items or bugs linked to the Test Cases.

  • Execution Status Overview – Quick visibility of the current status of Test Cases within the Test Plan.

This helps teams easily track test coverage, execution status, and traceability between Test Plans and related issues.
