How to use the ITS Gadget in Vansah

The ITS Issue/Work Item Traceability Summary Gadget provides a quick overview of how Jira issues or work items are linked to test cases, their execution status, and overall test coverage, ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements to results.

How to add the Work Item Traceability Summary Gadget to Your Jira Dashboard

  1. Go to your Jira Dashboard.

  2. Click Add a Gadget.

  3. In the search box, type “Vansah – Issue Traceability Summary”.

  4. Click Add to place the gadget on your dashboard.

  5. Once added, you will be prompted to configure the gadget before viewing the summary.

Configure the Gadget

After adding the gadget to your dashboard:

  1. Select Project(s):
    Choose the Jira project(s) you want the traceability summary to reflect.

  2. Work Item Selection:
    Choose how you want to select issues or work items for the report — by:

    • List (specify specific issue keys)

    • Filter (use a saved Jira filter)

    • JQL (use Jira Query Language for advanced selection)

  3. Include Child Work Items:

    Enable this option to includes all child work items of the selected issues in calculations, even if they are hidden from view, ensuring accurate traceability and coverage.

  4. Include Linked Work Items:
    Enable this option to include work items linked to the selected issues (for example: Blocked by, Created by, Relates to) to provide a broader traceability view.

  5. Report by Latest/Last Result:
    Enable Report by Latest/Last result to display test execution status based on the most recent execution result of each test case.

  6. Click Save to generate the summary.

  7. View the generated summary

    Example:

    In this view, Report by Latest/Last Result is enabled.

    • 37 test cases are linked across 5 work items.

    • 11 test cases have a latest execution result.

    • 26 test cases are pending.

    Therefore, the summary shows 11/37 Completed (29.7%), based only on the latest test results.


Additional Options and Actions

Export

You can export the traceability summary data for external review or reporting:

  1. Click the three dots (⋮) icon at the top of the gadget.

  2. Select Export.

  3. The report will download to your browser.

View Configuration History

  1. Click the three dots (⋮) icon.

  2. Choose Configuration History to view previously saved configurations and settings.

  3. From here, you can restore older gadget configurations if needed.
