Miscellaneous Settings

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Depending on your Jira project configuration, you may want to enable certain default Jira features within your Vansah project. These settings provide additional flexibility when managing Test Cases, Test Executions, and integrations with Jira’s native features.

By default, most settings are automatically enabled if your Jira project supports them. You can adjust these preferences under Miscellaneous Settings in your Vansah project.

Accessing Miscellaneous Settings

  1. Navigate to your Jira project where Vansah is enabled. See: project settings.

  2. From the left-hand menu, select:
Vansah → Settings → Vansah Settings → Project

  3. Select Miscellaneous to view and configure available options.

Available settings:

1. Components

  • Purpose: Link test cases to existing Jira project components.

  • Impact: Enables filtering by components across Vansah Testing Board, Jira Reports, and Gadgets.

  • Use Case: Useful when you want test cases grouped by system modules or functional areas already defined in Jira.

2. Labels

  • Purpose: Link test cases to existing Jira labels.

  • Impact: Adds labels as a filter option in Vansah Testing Board, Jira Reports, and Gadgets.

  • Use Case: Helps track themes or cross-cutting concerns (e.g., "performance," "UI," or "regression")

  • Default: Enabled for new projects.

  • Purpose: Execute test cases quickly against a Jira Issue using a simple result: Passed, Failed, N/A, Untested.

  • Impact: Ideal for Agile teams running lightweight test cycles.

  • Note: You can still run full test executions with detailed steps by selecting Execute

4. Link Test Cases

  • Purpose: Automatically link a Test Case to its Test Run Issue (Work Item).

  • Impact: Saves time by ensuring all executed Test Cases are consistently associated with their runs.

  • Purpose: Defines how Vansah reports the latest result of a Test Case.

  • Options:

    • Enabled (default): The latest result is tied to the context of execution (requirement, Test Folder, or Test Plan).

    • Disabled: The latest result is taken globally, regardless of where it was last executed.

  • Use Case: Choose based on whether you want context-specific results (e.g., UAT vs SIT) or a single global status.

Control how Vansah notifies users about Test Case assignments and results.

  • Assigning Test Cases (default enabled): Sends an email to the Assignee when they are assigned a Test Case from a Jira Work Item

7. Jira Work Item Comment Notification Options

Posts Test Case results as comments in the Jira Work Items comment Activity stream:

  • When a Test Case Passes (disabled by default).

  • When a Test Case Fails (enabled by default).

  • When Linking an Issue to a Test Step: Adds a comment to the linked Jira Issue.

  • When a user Adds, Links, or Unlinks a Test Case: Notifies you with clickable links to view affected Test Cases.
