Terms used throughout Vansah

Test Case

A set of conditions or variables under which a tester will determine whether an application, software system, or one of its features is working as it was originally established for it to do.

Test Folder

A hierarchical structure used to organize and group related test cases. Test folders help in maintaining a clear and logical structure for your test repository. Test Folder can also be used as a set of Tests which need to be run as part of a Test Plan or individually against the Test Folder.

Test Run

An instance of executing a test case or a set of test cases. It captures the results and details of a specific test execution.

Diagram below demonstrates a Test Run based on the three different Test Case script options.

Planned Test Run (Standard Test Plan)

Planned Test Runs (which is a standard test plan) are associated with either a single Test Folder or a single Jira Issue from the same Jira project. (To learn more about Test Plans with multiple Jira Issues or Test Folders from any number of Jira projects please refer to Advanced Test Plans)

Advanced Test Plan's can be made up of any number of Jira Issues or Test Folders

Vansah Board

Within your Jira project, Vansah will appear from the left hand Jira menu. Clicking on Vansah will open the Vansah Board for your Jira project. Each Jira project will have access to its own Vansah Board which displays your projects Testing Overview, Test Repository, Test Plans, Test Runs, Test Reporting and other important areas features such as settings and data management for your Jira project.

From your Vansah Board you will have centralized Test Management capabilities directly within Jira.

Test Repository

The central storage location for all test cases, test folders, and related testing artifacts within Vansah.

Test Script

A detailed set of instructions for executing a test case. It typically includes step-by-step actions, expected results, and any necessary test data or preconditions. Vansah also allows the use of BDD (Gherkin syntax) and plain text scripts.

Test Environment

A test environment is a crucial component of the test execution process, representing the specific conditions under which a test case is run. In Vansah test management, it's used to define and track the various environments that need to be tested for each test case, ensuring comprehensive coverage

Test Execution Concepts

Test Result

The outcome of a test case execution, typically categorized as Passed, Failed, Blocked, or custom statuses configured by the user.

Quick Test

A feature allowing rapid execution of test cases directly from the Jira issue view or test repository.

Bulk Execution

The ability to execute multiple test cases simultaneously, improving efficiency in test execution processes.

Test Data

Specific input values or conditions used during test case execution to verify expected outcomes. Test Data is associated with a Test Script.

Dashboards/Reporting and Testing Gadgets

Dashboard

Vansah gadgets seamlessly integrate into your Jira dashboard, enhancing visibility into testing activities and metrics. By incorporating Vansah gadgets into Jira dashboards, teams can track and analyze their quality assurance efforts.

Select from the following Vansah gadgets when configuring your Jira dashboards. Please note Vansah Gadgets for Jira Dashboards will increase. Please check within your Jira workspace for updates and new Gadgets.

Integration Features

Jira Workflow Validator

A feature that integrates with Jira workflows to enforce testing-related conditions before transitioning issues between states.

Test Case Linking

The process of associating test cases with Jira issues (such as stories, bugs, or requirements) to maintain traceability.

Confluence Integration

The ability to embed any Vansah gadget directly within Confluence pages for improved collaboration.

Advanced Features

Test Case Versioning

A feature that maintains a history of changes made to test cases, allowing for version control and auditing.

AI-Powered Testing (Vansah Intelligence)

Vansah’s artificial intelligence capabilities that assist in test case generation, optimization, and analysis.

Data Residency

The ability to specify the geographic location where Vansah stores your testing data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Custom Fields

User-defined fields that can be added to test cases, test runs, or other testing artifacts to capture additional information specific to your testing process.

User Management

Test Case Assignee

The person responsible for executing a specific test case or set of test cases.

User Access Control

Features for managing user permissions and access levels within Vansah, integrated with Jira’s user management system.
