How does Vansah Intelligence work?

Updated over a week ago

Vansah Intelligence is an AI-powered solution within Jira Cloud that automates critical steps of the testing lifecycle.

Once enabled by your Jira administrator, you can access Vansah Intelligence directly from your Jira project to analyze requirements, generate design structures, create test cases, and capture defects all seamlessly linked back to your Jira work items.

To get started, you’ll need to have Vansah Test Management for Jira installed from the Atlassian Marketplace. Vansah Intelligence is included as part of Vansah Test Management but is not enabled by default. A Jira administrator must opt in and activate it before it becomes available for use.

Note: For detailed steps on activation, see the Activate Vansah Intelligence article.

Data Extraction from Jira

When you enable Vansah Intelligence, information from your Jira issues (e.g., summaries, descriptions, labels, components, attachments) is read securely through Vansah Test Management for Jira. This is managed within the same Data residency region for your Jira workspace.

  1. You control which Jira properties are used during the analysis.

  2. No Sharing or Training: Your AI prompts, completions, and feedback are never shared with OpenAI or third parties. They are used only to deliver requested functionality.

  3. Private to Your Account: All AI interactions remain within your Vansah account and are bound to your organization.

  4. Data Protection by Design: Sensitive information (passwords, secrets, tokens, execution logs) is never processed by the AI engine.

  5. Context Used: Jira issue fields (summary, description, acceptance criteria, optional custom fields, labels, components, priority) and any explicit prompts or overrides you provide.

  6. Residency & Controls: Data is minimized, processed in line with your Jira region (US, Canada, EU, Australia, etc.) however once OpenAI is used Data may securely be processed in encrypted format outside your region but never stored.

Integration with OpenAI

  1. After analyzing your data within the same Jira region, Vansah Intelligence constructs a specialized AI prompt based on the AI feature being used.

  2. This structured prompt ensures that the information from Jira is accurately represented for analysis.

  3. Vansah uses OpenAI’s advanced language models to analyze and process the input and generate outputs such as requirements, test cases, test folders, or defect descriptions.

  4. The data sent to OpenAI is encrypted in transit and may leave your Jira region temporarily for processing however will not be stored outside your region.

  5. Once the analysis is complete, Vansah Intelligence returns structured results (e.g., test cases, defects, requirements) directly into your Jira project.

Your data is never used to train OpenAI models. Vansah ensures this setting is disabled across all OpenAI integrations. For full transparency, the following options remain disabled:

  • Sharing model feedback from the Platform

  • Sharing evaluation and fine-tuning data with OpenAI

  • Sharing inputs and outputs with OpenAI

More information please see: OpenAI’s Usage Policy

Data Residency & Privacy

  1. Data sent to OpenAI is not stored or retained or shared with any other Vansah user.

  2. When data is processed by OpenAI, it may temporarily leave your pinned Jira location for secure processing.
